Beef 'Gyros' with Tzatziki Sauce and Flatbread
Ingredients
'Gyro' Meat
- 1lb lean ground beef
- 2 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tbsp oregano
- 2 tsp cumin
- 1 tbsp white wine vinegar
- salt & pepper to taste
Flatbread
- 1 cup flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 3/4 cup greek yogurt
- salt to taste
Tzatziki Sauce*
- 1 and 1/3 cup greek yogurt
- 1/2 large english cucumber
- minced or finely chopped garlic
- 1/3 cup fresh dill (sub: 1 tbsp + 2 tsp dried dill)
- juice from 1/2 lemon
- splash of white wine vinegar
- salt to taste
Recipe
Mix all of your Gyro Meat ingredients together. Then brown the ground beef in a pan.
Mix all of your flatbread ingredients in a bowl. Let the dough rest for around 10 minutes. Separate the dough into 4 balls and flatten them out. Cook individually in a really hot pan for 1-2 minutes on each side. These are best served fresh.
Finely grate your cucumber, then squeeze the grated cucumber using papertowels or a cheese cloth to remove as much moisture as possible. Mix it with the rest of the ingredients.
*The cucumber, garlic, lemon juice, dill, and vinegar are all pretty much up to taste here, but use the given measurements as a starting point. (I like a little extra garlic and cucumber in mine.)
Put your 'gyro' together and enjoy!
